Our story
Hello and welcome! I’m Cenk Arkin, the owner of Galeyan Design, and I am happy to see you here!
Galeyan Design was born to give rise to and celebrate a desire for happiness in our everyday lives. Our story began in 1987 in Istanbul when my mother opted for goods handmade with the ikat technique. Her vision was to bring joy to every home with the power of bright colours.
After my mother’s retirement and my graduation in London, I took over her activity with the mission to make our unique creations known worldwide.

The ikat technique
“IKAT is a traditional ancient art of a technique with an extremely sophisticated weaving of Indonesia. Ikat is a method of resist-dye technique, ultimately used to pattern textiles. A common method of resist-dyeing involves covering areas of fabric to shield specific parts from penetration of the dye.”

Eco-friendly products and materials
We know how important a healthy lifestyle is for you.
Generally, the textile industry uses about half a kilogram of chemicals to produce a single item and most of them are harmful to human health whilst our items have OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification because we care about you and the environment.
