About Us

Preserving the Ikat technique since 1987

We are a small family atelier dedicated to creating modern handwoven textiles using the time-honoured ikat technique. Each cushion and bag is crafted slowly, with natural dyes, silk velvet, and skilled hands shaping every pattern’s unique character.

Rooted in heritage yet refined for contemporary living, our pieces bring quiet luxury, warmth, and joy into every home.

Our story

Galeyan Design is built on a simple belief: the most beautiful things are created slowly.

Our handwoven silk velvets are crafted on traditional looms, where every thread carries the gentle irregularities of human touch. Each motif is dyed by hand before weaving, allowing organic patterns and soft edges to emerge naturally — never rushed, never identical, always unique.

Rooted in the textile heritage of Istanbul, our work continues a family tradition of ikat velvet craftsmanship. What began as my mother’s small workshop in 1987 is now a London-based studio devoted to small-batch production, thoughtful design, and artistry passed down through generations.

We create pieces that feel lived-in, tactile, and quietly luxurious — objects that soften a space, enrich daily life, and honour the artisans whose skills shape every cushion and bag.

Galeyan Design is more than decoration.

It is a return to authenticity and mindful craftsmanship — one silk thread at a time.

  • A comfy touch of happiness

Our modern creations with traditional designs bring a touch of luxury and glam to every space.

We are dedicating the right amount of time to all our handmade goods to make sure they come to your home loved the same way we made them.

  • The ikat technique

“IKAT is a traditional ancient art of a technique with an extremely sophisticated weaving of Indonesia. Ikat is a method of resist-dye technique, ultimately used to pattern textiles. A common method of resist-dyeing involves covering areas of fabric to shield specific parts from penetration of the dye.”

  • Eco-friendly products and materials

We know how important a healthy lifestyle is for you.

Generally, the textile industry uses about half a kilogram of chemicals to produce a single item and most of them are harmful to human health whilst our items have OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification because we care about you and the environment.
